"Marcia Gay Harden was born on 14th August, 1959, in the La Jolla area of San Diego, California to Beverly the housewife, who is Thad an US Navy officer. She is the mother to one brother, and three sisters. Her father was a diplomat and the family moved frequently. They resided in numerous countries around the globe which included Germany, Japan, Greece, and Germany. After settling in Maryland, Harden went to Surrattsville High School in Clinton. Later, she attended the University of Texas at Austin in the fall of the year 1980, and received a bachelor's degree in theatre in the year. Harden was accepted into NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 1988 to complete her MFA.
